This company was established in 1962 by Mr. Sieuwdjagat Soekhoe, as a one-man business for logging and supplying logs to local sawmills.

In 1997, this one-business was converted into a limited company, called:

HOUTEXPLOITATIE EN HOUTVERWERKINGSONDERNEMING SOEKHOE EN ZONEN N.V. (LOGGING AND WOOD PROCESSING COMPANY SOEKHOE AND SONS Ltd)

In January 1998, the company’s first sawmill and timber trade were put into operation. Then, in September 2006, the second modern sawmill and timber trade started its operation, followed by the third sawmill in May 2013.

The company is registered under this name at the Surinamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KKF).

In November 2015, the company took over an existing sawmill, the “SURINAAMSE HOUT EN HOUTVERWERKING INDUSTRIE N.V.” After a thorough renovation, repair and replacement of machines and change of production techniques, this sawmill has been lifted to the standard of the other sawmills.

At its timber concession in the Tibiti area, the company carries out timber exploitation according to the principles of responsible and sustainable forest management.

The sustainable use of the forest and processing of the obtained round wood with an optimal yield, good quality and the trading of the products, both nationally and internationally.

To be an example for Surinamese wood companies by doing sustainable forest management and efficient wood processing with good quality by adapting processing techniques, training, and waste management.
